SYDNEY, AU / ACCESS Newswire / July 28, 2025 / Award-winning Singaporean snack brand The Golden Duck Co. has officially launched in Australia, bringing its gourmet-inspired Spiced Potato Crisp range to over 650 Woolworths and Metro stores and select Asian grocer stores nationwide.
Known across Southeast Asia for turning iconic street food flavours into gourmet snacks, the brand's newest product range features four distinct flavours: Truffle Wagyu, Sour Cream & Sriracha, Kombu Seaweed Butter, and Himalayan Pink Salt. Each crisp is gluten-free, non-GMO, preservative-free, and vegetarian-friendly, even the Truffle Wagyu variant. Some flavours contain dairy, but all are made with real ingredients and no shortcuts.
"Honestly, we just hoped to get into about 100 stores to test it out," says co-founder and CEO Jonathan Shen. "But Woolworths liked the range so much, they decided to put it in nearly 700 stores."
Since launching at the end of April, the response has exceeded expectations. Some Woolworths locations have already sold out of select flavours, which reflects Woolworths' early confidence in the range.
Ten years ago, Jonathan Shen and co-founder Chris Hwang were hand-making their signature salted egg yolk chips in a home kitchen, selling them from an IKEA-built booth at Suntec City in Singapore, completely unaware at the time that they were laying the foundation for what would grow into a global snack brand. They sold out on their very first day. A year later, when they opened their fourth store, a 150-person queue wrapped through a downtown mall before they even opened the doors at 9am, selling out in a record 2 hours.
Now sold in nearly 20 countries, The Golden Duck Co. is still grounded in the same hustle and heart it was built on. Shen describes Australia as a market that's close to his heart - one he's visited often and watched evolve over the years, especially in its food culture. "When I look at this new range we're launching, it feels a bit like Australia itself - bold, diverse, and unafraid to try something new" he says, "The way the country's food scene has evolved over the last 15-20 years is inspiring."
